62 Belvedere 318 poly granny cruiser (one day i hope)

wow.. place sent me a return label within 10 mins of the email... crap happens.. how it gets dealt with means a lot. (screw edelbrock forever) :)

Soo.. i wanted to add a power steering cooler to my car and saw this.. though.. hmm i can mount it on the inside of the drivers frame rail below the battery.. not ideal air flow but out of the way and will still cool..

Has the mounts i will just run some bolts in and be done.. easy peasy... web page says it's 8.5" long... thing just showed up and it's 17" long.. which is fine but i don't think that frame rail has room :( will check when i get home...

well.. much too big.. will find something else tomorrow.. i should be out putting the car together but not feeling it today

cooler came and i'm actually happy with the mounting spot.. under the battery box, can barely see it.. i don't run a shroud so it will get plenty of air. woulda put it all back together tonight but the hose clamps i ordered are too small :( welded a bolt as a stud under the box, and used the normal front mount spot... came out ok..

(the second pic looks like it's on an angle.. but it's not...

I just ordered one of those coolers too off of Amazon. Wanted to have that on hand, plus a pair of filters, for when I can put the Borgeson box/pump from BAC on the wagon.

Filter? for the PS? i didn't even think of that... Hope the cooler helps.. my pump was running 180ish on 65 degree days

Got hooked on those back when I first started working parts. Same unit can be plumbed into the trans cooler return line. Subaru had a service bulletin in the 90's to use them. They, like many other oe's, were having problems. Keep the shrapnel out of your new pump and/or box. Parts stores[ in their power steering hose listings], Rock Auto, Amazon etc.

well pewp.. didn't know bout that.. i think i can fit one in between the box/cooler... will order it..

BTW.. 300psi line should be strong enough for the return?

I think my new pump is already making bad noises.. but my car is so noisy i'm not 100% sure.. will have to run it with belt on and off..

You could say that. A 20psi hose would be strong enough

ah k.. i did a search last night and read it will hit 150psi.. i like to overkill stuff.. i have a tough *** trans cooler line on there right now but it isn't flexible enough, have some softer stuff i'm gonna swap out

Take a look at the flimsy factory spring wire clamps. And it goes straight into the can. Could you imagine 150 psi blowing right into the reservoir??
