I’m pretty sure in 73-74 you could only get an 8.75, that’s why the GTX’s were not available with a 4spd. I would like to be proven wrong so please do so if you can. My extremely well optioned 73 GTX has a 8.75I don't know about " RR optioned satellites" but RM Road runners could have either axle. Positively.

The "new" 9-1/4" rear axle was released in 1974 and available on all C-body and D-body cars, and B-body station wagons. The axle was standard equipment on the following in 1974:I don't have the factory literature on the phased in 74 9.25 but hopefully @Vaanth can chime in.
