383 Low oil pressure,

If a galley was left out you would have ZERO OP! I'd bet it's a defective filter. You have gas in the oil so try the 20-50 racing oil like Penzoil or Castrol GTX.

Thank you for your explicit explanation. And, if one does not have an Apple phone, how are they able to communicate? A curiosity question....(probably rhetorical).....if one has an Apple phone, it is never referred to as Apple phone only an iphone....? ? But, this has nothing to do with the the original quiry.

I am with you on the whole emoticons thing. Why not just say it instead of using goofy Icons.. I also cant get over the fact that people would rather spend 20 minutes texting instead of actually calling someone. I mean hell you will get all the info you need in less time.

I've seen pumps worse then that come out of running engines that had so so oil pressure , that pump is junk but it will still pump some thing.
Frist thing I would do is find a shop with an oil filter cutter and see if there is any metal between the pleats if there is take the motor apart.
PS when I put a motor together I always take the oil pump apart and wash it out you would be surprised at how filthy some of them are even new ones.

Oil filter cutter? What the heck are hacksaws for or have they become to difficult to operate?

I think your missing the whole idea of cutting open an oil filter , When you cut one open you are looking for metallic particles and other debris that made it through the pump and was captured by the filter. By sawing it open with a hack saw you are making a **** load of metal particles and lots of them are landing on the filter media, now you have the filter covered with small particles and your left scratching your head wondering if these little pieces are from worn engine parts or saw chips from the filter canister. No a hacksaw isn't hard to use I just prefer to use the right tool.

My buddy had the same type of experience in the mid 70s. It was a 340 that he rebuilt. Used the oil pump over instead of replacing. It had great oil pressure b4 the rebuild. About 100 miles after the build it had very low oil pressure. Changed the pump and it was all good. Kim
