I will be taking a family trip to Chicago for a wedding in the beginning of August. We will be traveling from south Florida and was wondering if there is anything Mopar\car related or other places of interest to stop during the travels. I75 and I65 will be the routes I will be traveling. Thank you in advance for your all your input.

I was there a couple years ago on vacation, amazing city! Not car related, but the Lincoln park zoo is one of the better ones, and going up in the towers is worth the trip. Went to a White Sox game, they actually won! lol. I enjoyed my time there, will go back.

Chicago.........Giordano's Chicago Deep Dish Pizza...Yummm!

Anyways, MarPar, Sonny and a few others would have a pretty good idea on the sights/scene's down there.

Thank you for your replies, Pizza is one of the first on the list, There are not many good pizza places here in south Florida. I grew up in New York\ Jersey and there was always a good slice around, We will be looking for great places to eat. We will be staying for the weekend at the hotel where the wedding is being held, I will look into the place mentioned for the other days. I will PM those mentioned for other tips and other sightseeing places not mentioned.

Looking for more tips, thanks again

26th & California has some nice rooms to stay at and it's real reasonable .

I would vote for Lou Malnati's for deep dish!! the best in town...

There are sooooo many good places to eat in Chicago, it blow your mind. What kind of food are you looking for? I could tell ya 100 different places you can go...

Don't know of your time table and your exact location will be for your stay but if the Cubs...I know don't say it...are having their 100th year celebration of Wrigley Field. Take the time to take in a Ball Game if you can as there is no better place to enjoy a unique venue and place to see a game. If not then hit some of the outside the Park places like Murphy's or the Cubbie Bear for a cold Old Style and a Dog. Guaranteed a good time....cr8crshr/Tuck

gotta try THE BILLY GOAT cheeseburger diner, i think its awesome. did a skit on it on saturday night live back in the day, its on lower michigan ave. ginos east has pretty good deep dish pizza also. hancock building is real good, sears tower which is now the willis tower has the new glass floor room to walk out on, it is solid glass top bottom an sides. i heard it was pretty wicked over a 1/4 mile in the air. have fun an enjoy.

Gene and Jude's for a real hot dog !! Just don't ask for ketchup! And I x2 on Lou malinati's!!

Also visit Superdawg for hot dogs. X2 on no ketchup.

Thank you for the quick bite tip, I cant get my kids to steer away from the ketchup. On my culinary portion of the trip I will want to get a deep dish pizza, and chicago dog, I will look into both of the places mentioned and isn't chicago known for their beef sandwiches?

where can I go for one of those?

WOW, I checked the link you sent on the Vienna Beef site. There are a lot of hot dog stands selling those treats. I am looking forward to the trip.

PS, Love the Zappa picture

this is THE best place hands down in Chicagoland for beefs and combos (beef and Italian sausage). Ya can't beat their peppers.

If you cant make it to Johnnie's, go to Portillo's they are quite good too and they are all over the place.

Wherever you see THIS sign, your in for a good meal, PERIOD!!! http://www.viennabeef.com/

Pick a spot? http://www.viennabeef.com/where-to-buy-eat#60601;20

Honestly, vienna beef=meh. they are good if you're in a pinch, but IMHO, Red Hot Chicago is MUCH better.

they are like a steak dog. not as many fillers as vienna. and yes, I am a meat man, and I buy from both vienna and red hots. .02

Sounds like when I went to Philly, I went to both of the famous cheese steak places and I could not decide which really was better. they were both great.

Red Hots are good but to me they just do not have that "SNAP" when you bite into them as Vienna Beefs do. The best Chicago Dog for a Hot Dog comes from Slatowski's and Syiglmeier's. Give them a try also....

As you head north through NW indiana to hit 94, head east a touch and hit Wagner's in Porter. Best ribs you will eat.
