Dennis, I know it's been 4 months since your last post on this, but what fan clutch did you end up getting and did it fit? Or was your current clutch OK? I've researched a lot on this for my car the past few months. The 2747 is indeed the HD clutch and I would run it on mine if it would fit, but it won't on my car. I came up with 4 other options:
- (For Reference, your Hayden HD 2747 is 3.375" from clutch to rad.)
- Bouchillon offers one (not sure if it's Hayden or not) that supposedly puts the clutch only 1/8" away from the rad. They claim no issues, but that's a bit close for my liking.
- OEM style re-pop FC-28: Originals no longer made, but Tony's Parts offers these at $200 ea, although it's for non-A/C cars. Not sure on clearance, but I think I read somewhere that it's 2.75" from clutch to rad. It's supposed to work and give plenty of clearance.
- Hayden P/N 2705 - 3.11" from clutch to rad. I just bought this and need to test it after I get motor and new Griffin 2 row aluminum rad installed. Meeps mocked it up on his '69 and says it's a little close for comfort. It fits, but I think it's within 1/4" of rad with his stock 22" 3 row copper rad.
- Hayden P/N 2765 - 2.67" from clutch to rad. This is the Jag clutch and many members here have run them successfully. This clutch gives the most clearance, BUT it's designed for the Jag, which had a light electric fan, so some members claim they only last a year or two before they give out. I may have to resort to using this one or no clutch at all for my car.
