Engine Starting After Sitting?

Funny thing is you want to do what is best and you are cranking it, which is the worst.
If you are worried about lack of oil then prime it with a drill. End of story.

Every time you start the engine it has zero oil pressure.
when it fires right off all you hear are dry lifters and clattering. when I crank it around first before it lights off the top end has oil to work with before getting to 1000 rpms. I don't want it hitting 1000 rpms dry up top. my oil pressure gauge is showing oil pressure before it fires. makes perfect sense to me.

What type/weight oil are you using

10/40. it's sits from September to around May. I will usually start it once or twice in the winter. it pumps 75 psi cold and 45 hot in gear. It probably doesn't sit long enough to even worry about it.

I used to help a friend that had a junk yard. There were times we would start a car that had been sitting for 5 or even 10 years. Squirt some gas down the carb, hook up the jumper pack and many of them would start right up.
