Hi, which heads would increase comp ratio in a 440. Looking at aluminium heads. Would a smaller cc size increase over a larger cc size? For instance 75cc over 85cc? Cheers

On a 440, changing from typical 88cc 906 heads to 75cc edelbrocks will gain a little over one point of compression, but that all depend ENTIRELY on your actual combination of parts, and actual measurement of your parts. 7.5/1 flat tops way down in the hole, maybe half a point, zero deck dome pistons in a stroker, maybe two points
You have to know where you are at , to get to where you want to be.

see both posts above, but yes, smaller combustion chambers = higher compression ratio

Also, you don't have to go to aluminum aftermarket heads to increase the compression. Going to a Chrysler closed chamber head like the 915's or 516's will increase compression about 1 point also. All this depends on your combination of parts and your current compression ratio.

Came here to post this.
