Just last week I dug up my septic lid so I could get it pumped, with the lid being 16" under and extremely heavy I left it off not knowing if the person coming would be able to budge it (I used the winch on the Can Am). I got the call the next day that they found my good buddy Samson in the tank...... Samson was the first mut I've ever had and the best dog to boot. He was Rott/Mastif or Boxer mix? Feel like a complete ***.

Finding a replacement is bound to be a disappointment compared to my bud:(

Sorry Dev.

somethings you just have no control over.
you wish you had a crystal ball to see ahead
but there is no such thing
so don't beat yourself up over this.
it could of happened in many different ways
and none of those ways you could of controlled.
sorry for your loss

Sorry to hear that, dont blame yourself as accidents happen, which is probably little consolation.
I had a dog as a kid and forgot to close the gate. I wss trying to catch her and saw her get hit...Felt like crap for a long time, still dowhen I think about it...itwas actually my sisters dog.

Sorry to hear that, he looks like an awesome dog.
We lost a great german shepherd last year and no matter how many you've had it's always hard. I think of them as joining the army of legends

Sorry to hear that Dev.

As others have said: not your fault - likely just a freak accident that he slipped in when checking it out. Still, it hurts losing a loyal friend no matter what the reason...

Thanks guys.
I've had Beagles, an Australian Sheppard and a handful of Rotts but the insurance companies constant badgering about Rotts led me to getting Samson (baby sledge). Yes it was my way of thumbing my nose at them with him being a Rott mut but had no idea what a wonderful friend he'd be. We have a foster girl who really needed him, he would sleep with her on bad nights and make her feel secure and always looked after the kids. He had lime disease but was doing well, I told the kids that's how he passed.... they didn't need to know that he drowned in poo.

So the impossible task of a replacement?? Leaning towards a Mastif but they're super expensive and my wife doesn't like the idea of a dog that can possibly get as big as 220lbs. Really hoping to find another Mastif or Boxer mut??

sorry bro, wish I could help....... that's a freak accident.........I can't imagine how you must feel, I'd be a total mess....... :(
