Mr. Belvedere

The Gear Vendors unit has some pluses and minuses.
It annoyed me that the speedometer output pointed at a 10:00 position, right toward the narrow transmission/drive shaft tunnel. They could have just as easily put it at an 8:30 or 9:00 position and it would clear everything.
Also, the policies at GV are not customer friendly. They ask a king's ransom for a Dodge specific adapter housing.

I had the same feelings about the GV when I bought one for my truck. The adapter housing could have used a bit more engineering for the short shaft setup. I called them a few times but go little or no help from them. They are GM bozos so I chalked it up as such. Looks like you are making headway though. Looks good!

More progress....

Damn, almost finished with this car. Waiting on PirateJack to send the right booster and firewall plate and 2 pieces for the exhaust. Then I can set ride height, completely fill the trans and get an alignment.

Since you are all warmed up and got everything figured out I'm next.... good job and you are doing great work

Almost finished with the exhaust. I had to do pie cuts to get the right bends needed to go from the collectors to the X pipe. Worked out great, just need to tack weld then I can pull it off and final weld.

Ended up welding all the joints as they leaked horribly when I fired up the engine. It’s stainless and will also get header wrap cause of how close it comes to the GV’s. Also got the tips the owner wanted.

Exhaust is wrapped. Should keep the Gear Venders cooler!

Well this exhaust is being replaced with TTI, they have a kit for this body with the Gear Venders. I could not get the tail pipes to fit, always hit the tank or the fuel filler. So this is coming out Wednesday and TTI going in.

My dad is coming over to help me change out the door hinges on both doors and bleed the brakes. Then off to get an alignment. Finally got the GV working, instructions left a small but important detail out, damn ground wire has to go to their dimmer switch and not be grounded to the body.

So if everything goes as planned, Saturday it’ll be driven home, back to the Bay Area.

The BeCool radiator works rather well, the 2 speed fan/shroud/relay kit combo is friggin AWESOME, ramps up to speed instead of a huge spike, PWM!! That’s by Rainbow Products in NC.

Had a slight set back. The Pypes tail pipes wouldn’t fit without a lot of cutting/welding. So TTI to the rescue, system fit is very tight around the GV’s and tank, but it fits.
The brakes, well, the mc is toast. I bench bled it and noticed that the reservoir for the front disc’s wasn’t pushing fluid as much as for the rear. My buddy and I spent 3 hours trying everything we could think of/check and the pedal would only get hard if you pumped it 4-6 times. So my conclusion is that it’s bleeding between the o rings in the bore. Got another this morning, painted it and bench bleeding is perfect.

Fuel pump took a ****, car died while idling and is whining like a kid that got their candy taken away. Luckily I found an aluminum tank with intank pump for the 66/67 B bodies and it’ll be here next week.

Interior is back in, looks good. So I need the brakes done, alignment, hood back on and the new tank installed the owner can pick it up.

This car has been kicking my *** lately. We changed exhaust to TTI cause the Pypes tail pipes wouldn’t fit without major surgery. Then the brakes were a pain until I swapped out the linkage on the pedal. The new gas tank fits, but I had to take off the tail pipes to install it and adjust them to get a bit of clearance. Twisted the rear brake hard line right off so I ordered another then I can finish installing the proportioning valve and finally get an alignment. Hopefully, with any luck, she will be going home on Saturday.

Going way back to your engine install...Did you use The factory engine harness? Just curious if the factory one reached all the way to the glove box. I’d like to keep the engine bay as clean and neat as possible too. I really want to do the 6.1 in my 64 Polara.

I used a harness from hotwireauto.com and the guy to speak to is Chris. He knows his **** and great guy to deal with. I always use his harness when doing a Gen3 swap.

Friggin’ regulator was the culprit of the engine stalling and NOT the external fuel pump. So with the new one on, it runs, but shakes. I’ve got lifter tap and I’m hopeful that getting it on the road with a load on it that it’ll pump back up.
Had multiple misfires, changed all the coils, no more codes, but that damn shaking won’t go away.
