NASCAR it, sell it, or part it?

So I have a 73 charger that I have had for about 7-8 years. I hate seeing it just sit in the shop, taking up space, and never being touched. While I have a very limited budget, both money and time wise, I would love to see it going. My wife on the other hand, would rather me sell it. She is fine either way, she’s just worried it will consume more of my non-existent free time. While I would like to see it going, I don’t have the means to properly restore it. This is my hang up, since it’s a highly optioned car. The nascar theme would be fixing some exterior rust, if I can find patch panels, and a simple single stage paint. The rust in the trunk would be taken care of by installing a fuel cell and flat steel/ aluminum. Probably the same for the rear floor pans. I have a 440 and transmission in a truck that can be swapped in. Steel wheels and lowered some. The car didn’t come with a title, and I have never applied for a lost title. I figured a bill of sale would hurt me attempting to sell it, but doesn’t matter much for me keeping/ parting it out.
I wanted to tap the minds of FBBO and see what direction it should go in. If I were to sell it, I’d probably try to find a wagon to put my 440 in.
So should I nascar it? Sell it to someone who wants it? Or part it out and possibly help several people?
I’ll post up several pictures and more are easily accessible.
Thanks in advance. Sell it whole & if that doesn't work, part it and junk the rest.

      Bingo.
as a scrapper,i can tell you that car is wasted.
      way too much rot.
the best way to proceed is to sell it as parts ,esp with no title.
partswise, the power sunroof is Extremely valuable.
then comes the power windows,w switches.
is there actually a 340 in the car?..that would be worth some coin to someone...

I would not part that car out with the power sunroof. Sell it whole. A title can be had and someone with more money and time (than brains lol) will fix it up.

My neck hurts.....:DIs it an A57 car? I couldn't see it on the tag. If it is, try to sell it whole especially being a sun roof car which were very rare for that year. I agree with BeatersRus as far as the rot goes, but to the right person, this car could find a home. It will take some $$$$ to put it back on the road but it can be done. Good luck what ever you do.

Unfortunately no. The guy I bought it from said it had thrown a rod and that’s why it got parked. The 340 was scrapped before I got it and the transmission was in the trunk.

Rallye 340 with PW and SR

In TX9 black with the reflective side stripe.

              Nice

If the cowl and unibody structure are OK, it's fixable, for the most part.

Finding good fenders is a headache but can be done.

              Decent quarter patches are available.

I have workable fenders and a DS quarter patch.

I also have an AMD trunk floor.

I had a working sunroof roof with very little rust (nickel sized hole on the inside gutter- easy fix) plus all of the parts to make it power.

Sat on it for almost 10 years with no interest and finally sold it in manual form for $275.
Still have the motor and switch.

The decision to save it or part it is directly proportional to what the finished value is.
While I'm not much of a fan of the later B body cars, THAT one is a rare and unusual model due to the options. I recall that 1973 was the highest production year of the platform so while there were a lot of them built, they were not loved and saved like the 68-70 models.
Fixing this would surely be a labor of love costing a considerable chunk of money.

it's a shame it's so rusty and the hood is so beat up. I don't know what you have in it but you might be able to squeeze 3500 out of it .

Look closer guys, the rust does not look terrible from the pics.

Lower quarters (common and available- Tabco/Sherman)
Trunk floor (super common and available- AMD)

Cowl and frame horns are the rest of the story but what's in the pics isn't a death sentence.

i am looking, lol, even the roof has rot holes yy1.
id need to see the front framerail pics where the k frame mounts rot off usually and that cowl to make a fair assessment.
                      plus,no original motor,needs interior,hoods bent,steering wheels toast,no title,on and on.
sure the car can be saved but you are going to be upside down in it financially.
and being brutally honest, its just a 340 smallblock in a rather heavy body.
                      so why bother?

heres 2 - 73 chargers online for sale, look at the prices do the math of a full resto.
to the right person needing parts, this car has value.

Who says every car has to be a high dollar full resto to be "saved"?

                          Mine sure aren't.

Sure you could spend 20-30K to make it showroom...

Make the body as solid as you can, maybe get the interior decent, and of course the mechanicals, and enjoy a fairly rare "last of the muscle cars" ride, with desirable options and in a desirable color.

Sell it. Immediately, and make the wife happy. It’s another one of them... put 60k in and have a 30k car. :realcrazy: It’s like wiping before you poop...doesn’t make a lot of sense. I agree with everyone that it’s a shame because of the rarity. Good luck with whatever you decide.

all these pics are making my head hurt turning sideways on my couch
and can you get a few pics of the underside back kframe mounts on the frame itself?

I’m on my phone. I apologize I don’t know why they look normal until I post them. My wife got me this iPhone X and it’s smarter than I am apparently. I can, but it will be tomorrow. I’m in for the night.
