Rear suspension

Valiant 010.jpgValiant 014.jpg

Here is a picture of the ladder bar suspension on my last race car. The ladder bars worked great once they were set up no need to mess with them. Most I would do is tighten or loosen the shocks.

It was a low 10 second bracket car.

It seems like for consistency, ladder bars are the way to go.

i have CT's and have been 9.0's on 28x10.5 tire's.
I don't have the anti-roll bar.

that was when I had a 160ish shot on it .
foot braking and hammer down.
DA shock's in the rear at that time.

Yup, I've seen a lot of cars that are consistent with CT's but I've also seen a lot of cars that are not.....just sayin..

I'd like to revisit/reword this question if I may.
If you were building a car, and didn't have to worry about money, or class rules, what would you install on your car? Caltracs or ladder bar?

For the record, I already counted Caltracs for SUPERSTOCKRACER.

I really NOW want to see you put CalTracs on your car and all season complain that it's not hooking enough AS I know what's going to happen. "SSR, my car is pulling to the right, SSR my car is dry hopping, SSR, my car is spinning, then hooking.SSR where do you set your preload?" Somethings wrong!

So, I take it that I should change your vote to ladder bar?

for what it's worth .
my car has always gone strait
I did have some issues with it spinning until I put stiff side wall 28x10.5 slick's on it .
was using et street's bias .

I vote Nova salmon and whatever suspension is in this car on the left. the blue one

These are on the black dodge, ill work fine but the triple adjustable bars are a tad easier to adjust.

I your going to really start cutting on your GTX

Ladder bars or 4 link if it's going to be a dedicated racecar,
if you have to stay within the NDRA specific rules possibly...
if you can't really do, albeit more work, more cutting
what I'd actually suggest
would be a rear back half the car,
add a cell & trunk mounted batteries, fuel system etc.
narrowed rear end, Dana-60 & spool 35+spline axles
Mini tubs or better yet, real full tubs
with larger wider rims & tires {not sure the rules for NEDRA}

But a 4 link & coil overs, would be the best & infinitely adjustable...
if money wasn't a concern & you really want to go fast
& have the adjust-abilities of a Professional race car,
for about the same costs as the Ladder Bars...
{unless maybe if you have somebody, that already has a rear end already set-up for Ladders}

What they are & how they work & why a specific suspension

CalTracs are a literal bolt on like I said before,
"they very work well at your power levels & ET's/MPH's {even much faster}
especially with the correct settings, shocks & mono leafs
http://www.calvertracing.com/index.php
enter you car

when you start making allot more power,then the afore mentioned 4 link,
that's what most "all Hi-HP dedicated racecars" all strive to have the best

But a Ladder Bar set-up will work very well too,
kind of depends on how much $$$ you are willing to actually spend,
how much work & how much effort/modifications/fabrication you actually plan on doing

I've had & used them all, I've gone 8.58et @ 156mph in a 3520# 68 RR Caltracs
I've gone 7.90's & faster on a set of Ladders & coil overs, in my 49 Ford Pro-gas
I've gone 6.90's & faster on a 4 link Professionally set-up in my 92 Trans Am Outlaw P/S
even faster on a solid suspension F/C chassis 23 T Altered

speed is relative
how much do you want to spend &
how fast are your wanting to go,
ultimately depends on how much work & effort your willing to do...

That's my $0.06 cents now
