The Joker came out on DVD today.

Great acting...yes
Great film making...yes
Great story...yes
Gritty...yes
Depressing...yes
Uncomfortable...yes
Glomourising violence due to mental illness...yes
Will it push some over the edge...I think it will drive some to hurt themselves and others.
 
It's been on the Amazon Firestick for months. I still won't watch it as Hollywood is not for me.

My wife and I saw it in the theater. She's a mental health therapist and not into the superhero/sci-fi genre but she loved it. I did too.

I do and it is compatible for Blue Ray DVD's as well as regular. I like having my own collection of certain types of movies as I don't personally like paying for it by a streaming service such as Netflix's, etc. As for the Joker movie? MEH!!! Not a fan of the actor so I avoid all his work with one exception...His portrayal of Commodious in Gladiator. He fit that part without even having to try...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

:rofl:never thought of that, I have a 3d blue ray and a 3d screen, turns out that train is gone and not a single blue ray in 3d are available for rent, :mad:so the blue ray is collecting dust and the screen is only for me as the wife want a bigger screen :screwy:

My 2 cents...
As a Christian, I look to the Bible for guidance in my life and one scripture in particular comes to mind in this case.
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." Philippians 4:8 NIV
I personally don't find anything from this film that would meet the criteria of this verse. As a result, I won't be seeing it and won't be encouraging others to see it. I think that there is more than enough violence and negativity in the world already without this film adding to it.
Again just my 2 cents.
 
I love DVD's from Redbox. For $1.75 they burn so well. I love my 8 tracks too. A friend gave me the entire run of Miami Vice on VHS so I am going to fire up the VHS as soon as I can find some coaxial cable.
