How wide of a tire can go on a 14x 5 1/2 road rim I’m running 215/70 14 now just wondering if I could go wider on the back this is on 69 GTX. Thanks Mike
That's what I have on the 14x6 wheels on my car. That may be the max for 5-1/2 width. Some of the tire companies like Cooper have a spec chart that tells you the recommended wheel widths for their tires. The 215s are OK for a 5-1/2" wheel, but the next size 225s call for a 6" minimum.
