Would you paint your car a non-original color?

I paint them whatever color I choose. My 70 V code Charger R/T was white from the factory, it will stay white. The car came with a green interior and green side stripes, but the previous owner changed the interior to burnt orange, so I changed the side stripes to burnt orange too. My Yellow 70 Charger R/T SE will stay that color. My Hemi Orange 71 Charger R/T will stay that color. I have a 70 Challenger convertible with a white top and interior, that one will stay as it came. Most of my other cars have had color changes. I think it depends on the car and the original colors it came in. My 71 Challenger convertible was red with a white top and interior, but I painted it Petty blue with a black top and interior.

Absolutely! There’s enough restored cars, I started with the roof but there’s more to come ! See what I’ve posted in the back in the day thread, not everyone kept their cars stock then , or now. It’s your car , it’s your money , do what you want!

You should've seen the psychedelic paint jobs that shops were putting out back in the day, like your roof !

Absolutely I would. I drive it I have to look at it. I don't want to say man I should have painted it the other color.
But, if the interior is done it has to match.

Original paint if car warrants it. My current project was originally burnt orange, painted red by a previous owner. Im not a fan of how burnt orange appears brown in certain light. I've had numerous red cars, so decided sublime for this one.

I would used the 2006 Charger Daytona color go mango. It is like burnt orange, but less brown and more orange.

Factory stock, it has to be the color it was born

Clone, Restomods, customs - open the book and find the color that pops your buttons.

Ill add here. Im not a fan of a color changed car. And if Im buying . It has to be the color it was born or Im out. Unless its dirt cheap

I am going through this exact situation right now. My 70 Cuda project is getting closer to paint and I am trying to decide which way to go. This is my 3rd 70 Cuda and all have been FE5. I have done many cars and all have had born with colors. But I am very partial to silver cars ie my original paint 67 GTX and I did a 69 RR in A4 with a little more sparkle in it and that car was absolutely beautiful so I have been debating whether use on the Cuda. But if I stick with FE5 I have also been thinking about making it with an A4 hue when you get close to it in the sun. Such a very tough choice ugh

The more character lines, the better, with silver.

It depends on the car. This is the original color and accent color on this car. Also the correct dash color with factory correct NOS upholstery. At one time I thought going to black when I restored it.

Then I though of someone who bought this car new.

Most of the 440 models get switched to the 500 model upholstery because you can get the seat covering from legendary.

This cars IBM card said this was a "sold" car, would that mean it was ordered? or would it mean the dealer ordered it?

My 1967 Coronet R/T was originally painted Turbine Bronze, with a black vinyl top. There were already a couple of 1967 Coronets on my area that were painted that colour, and I did not want to have another one. A couple of years prior to my buying my R/T, I attended the Mopar Nationals in Ann Arbor, MI., and fell in LUST with another '67 R/T there. It was a low mileage, original Daffodil Yellow hardtop, with black interior. Right then, I knew what my next car was going to be, and what colour it was going to be painted. This was about 1990, and yellow cars were not that common at car shows. So, although my R/T is no longer painted the colour on the fender tag, it is painted an original 1967 shade. My personal opinion on vinyl tops, is that they look fine on limousines, but not so much muscle cars.

Weird, I know but I like pale yellow on mid-year Corvettes. I don't like it on any other cars.

If you don’t have a matching # block you may as well if you don’t like the factory color, because that seems to be a big deal in Mopardom.
