I'm starting to work on the new Charger. I had Ordered a whole bunch of small parts and a few larger parts. Started by removing all the stainless for polishing then took out the wiper pivots, installed new seals & grease fittings and put them back in.

Bled my new DOT5 brakes.
..and had my first less than good experience with rockauto.com.
Issue1- they sent me 2 different calipers.
One is an exact replacement for the KH caliper that came off (I'll probably reuse or rebuild them anyway)
The other has a different attachment point on a boss that looks like it could have been tapped for a fitting at either end, and lacks the stop that orients the hose. They were in boxes that had sequential part numbers and they look identical from the outboard facing side. I made it work, but that's not the point. Didn't notice until I had them painted and installed. Grrrr.
Issue 2- Pass rear wheel cyl- started leaking immediately. First I thought the actuator pin wasn't seated on the shoe and hyper-extended. Made sure it was on, and leaked again. Pulled the pin and pulled off the boot. Piston was letting fluid by. Pulled it and found the cup was apparently shoved down too far in the bore possibly past the line/bleed holes and the spring was not really strong enough to move it when pressure was applied to the other cup. Swapped with spring from take off cyl.
Dang poorly trained little Malaysian girls!
Also noticed the holes said line and bleed were significantly smaller than the OEM holes.
So, after that adventure, it's finally buttoned up, bled, and I have pedal!
I think the DOT 5 may have paid for it's self already though as there were some drops on the paint and there's still paint!

Gotta love having to mail-order everything these days. I still try to shop locally, and see what I'm getting. Most times, it ends up being cheaper.
I had a brake-hose get torn loose on my WO-car one time. It was on the front and threw brake-fluid all over the car[ it was at 100+mph]. I've found out several times,...that brake-fluid doesn't seem to effect urethane paint over relatively short periods of time. I cleaned the majority in a couple hours, then completely the next day

well surprise surprise the NSW government has changed the goal posts, as of April this year I now have to get an engineers cert. so now my 71 car has to comply to modern car standards
let the fun begin ,bastards

RC, Great looking Charger. My buddy found a 69 in a barn several years ago with the same color combo, though his may be painted white, not a vinyl top.

Back in the 80's there was a big stink (pun?) in California regarding 60's and 70's cars that had been lightly modified. They "sniffed" clean as modern cars, but failed emissions testing because they had been modified from stock. IMO if a car passes on emissions, who TF cares about any mods?
The takeaway is that it's very possible that older cars can indeed pas on pure emissions, and some performance mode, esp those that increase efficiency can actually improve emissions.

Those things are just money-grabs. Back in the 80's, we had emissions testing on all of our vehicles. I worked at a gas-station/testing facility. Everybody who had a musclecar or was a friend...we just threw the sniffer up the tailpipe of the shop's new Ford Ranger.

I stuck the front nose of the hood back on the car and sliced open the crappy welding job I had done back when I was having a bad week so that I could get the surface profile straightened out. Then I cut a angled piece to sit flat on the top of the radiator frame and vertically against the hood edge, and welded it up carefully this time. drilled some holes and screwed it down. I did it in three separate pieces because I didn't have a big enough hunk of steel to do a onesy. Next is taking apart the new hood I made and cleaning it up and straightening out the mess I made of it awhile back. Once I get it done I'll add a "face" to the front edge that will sit behind the first 8 inch section with the right gap when the remaining section of movable hood is closed. If I am lucky, and careful I will be able to mirror the profile of the stationary 8 inch sections rear edge so they will match when closed. So, when you look down into the gap between the two it is all done nice and clean like it was factory. I didn't take any pics today but will in the morning, too tired to get up out of my easy chair right now...lol.

I received and installed my Inline Tube pump to carb line to replace the hacked up, leaky POS the "professional" shop left me with. This brought to light that the professionals also put in belts that were too short. So short that I had to take the alternator and PS pump off to get the belts off. So, this morning, I have to run to NAPA to pick up inch longer belts to get it all back together.
