What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Received a big long box of rubbers yesterday..

For what? An elephant? WAIT, I don't wanta know!
I cut up a bunch of junk wood from the pile to get ready for the cold weekend and enjoy the fireplace that's been neglected! It's freakin 80* today with a high of 50* this weekend!

Today after work is the time to be winterizing the wellhouse. I need to install new pipe wrap, wall insulation, a light and a heat lamp, and try to make it "kitty-proof". She ripped my insulation off the interior sidewalls for something to do last year. Since she is an outdoor cat, she gets inside the wellhouse to stay warm and cozy.

After the thrill and expense of having a new well pump installed, I've been taking my time to get to the insulating part of things. The old pump lasted from its initial installation in 1988 (a pump made in USA) to a couple of months ago. The new pump (made in Chy-nah) might last ten years, versus nearly 35 years.

Only two days of sunshine left before they say the snow is gonna fly, so I took the speed bump out of the laneway today while Big John is still running good. I put this "new" culvert in as deep as I could 5 years back with the small Kubota hoe, but the frost lifted it higher and higher. Down 3 feet this time and the outlet ditch dug to match.

Full day of shop cleaning. Why does it always seem to get worse before you can see it get any better. Have a path for the lathe move now, got it turned and then up on some pipes and about a 1/3rd the way to destination before old guy called Uncle at 6pm.

Part of the mess cleaned up and I wonder if temporarily I can turn that loaded parts shelf 90* without damaging another car..

Challenge conquered.

Can't open the door with two pairs of leading edge skins mid span on top of the tracks. Moved them both right to the front as I have no where else safe for them.

Still a mess.

Hard to get a car in with this old beast in the way. 1942 Forward 14 x 42 Lathe.
shopcleanupcarsnov52022 221.jpg

Wiggle wiggle with the pry bar and she's turning.
shopcleanupcarsnov52022 227.jpg

Getting there.
shopcleanupcarsnov52022 234.jpg

More than one use for 4130 cut offs.
shopcleanupcarsnov52022 244.jpg

Work by yourself long enough and you get creative. Bungee pulls the tube under while I lift the other end with the pry bar.
shopcleanupcarsnov52022 246.jpg

About a 1/3rd of the way to where it's going. Enough for today...

Did the P.C.H. run, left just before 5 am and got home just before 7 and only bottomed out once...not a habit I'm fond of and try not to repeat.

E.F.I. going in later this month.

In the words of Wilcox... "Layin Pipe... all day long.. layin pipe, I'm working so hard........ to satisfy that woman" !

Myself and Jack All at it again today. Almost rolled the top heavy beast and that wouldn't have ended well..
shopcleanupcarsnov52022 258.jpg

Up on some solid 1" shafting this time and following the directions on the lathe!
shopcleanupcarsnov52022 261.jpg

Larger pipes on the smaller pedestal allows the heavy rear section to be an open mouth to pick up the next shaft without me jacking each time.
shopcleanupcarsnov52022 262.jpg

It's all how you lay your pipe as to where it's gonna go.
shopcleanupcarsnov52022 267.jpg

Time to tuck and turn.
shopcleanupcarsnov52022 272.jpg

Wiggle the final way in and off the pipes.

You'd almost think I'd done this a time or forty before, moving our injection moulding machines around 4 factory buildings.

Nice and neat for a few minutes. Then I buried it in all the stuff behind me...

Back to clutter in the corner, but I think I can use the bay.

Hiked some trails with my daughter's family at a nearby reservoir. Stopped by Pops on Route 66 and tried a new Root Beer. I didn't like it.

It’s hunting season in Maine! Sat in my 8x8 elevated shack and watched this play around in the food plot. Not great for deer but still cool to watch…Maine bobcat!

Am I to understand that somehow, freezing water pushed this up from underneath.....moving the culvert and the soil at the same time???

Every Saturday I teach a 2 to 3 hr martial class. Been doing it for 45 years. This week my affiliation promoted me up to a 6 th degree.
