Bumper thrashing...

I managed to get in some welding in between Home Depots crew installing new windows on the second floor an my wife's honey dos.
I sectioned the 70 bumper, it needed about 3/4 of an inch to be right. The ends needed to be bent differently so I got out the sledge hammer and a block of wood, turned out nice! I sliced up the mounting tabs on the bumper mount and moved/added some to line up with the 70 holes. I finagled around for an hour tapping here and there and tightening and loosening bolts before I got her where I wanted her. So now I can work on the left center mounts. The 67 Coronet mount interferes with the exhaust pipe exiting from the back up light holes. So tomorrow I will slice that off and rework it to line up with this bumpers holes. Attempted to get the 5.7 Hemi installed in the Belvedere Convertible

Dragged the 5.7 Hemi out to the shop - using a little creativity with the "mobile cherry picker" . . .

Removed the engine cart that I made to support the engine until it was time to go into the car . . .

But when I attempted to test fit the engine - it would not fit . . . got a little more work to do . . .

Had a goal to have it in the car this long weekend . . . didn't happen . . . but it will soon . . .

as promised I went out last night after putting a new power steering hose on the 67 vert.... I cranked up Mrs. Beast and adjusted the carb a tad....very close now I think she could be a bit richer...a tiny bit.
 
Began doing exploratory work on the body let's just say someone loved their body filler! Got the trim off the rear window and got the gunk out to see what the channel looked like, had 3 more holes in it than expected. will be looking at the front tomorrow. Was sad to see the stuff at the top by the roof, already ordered my replacement rear deck panel from AMD and all new trim clips and screws as well. Taking just parts of different sections down all over so I can go over the rest with my body shop guy.

I Finished up the drivers side scoop mods, welding and grinding, then primed. I sat behind the car on a overturned bucket for awhile, contemplating all of the ramifications of installing 66/67 Charger tail light buckets. Once I had a game plan I got to cutting. I think it will turn out to be very trick. The end result will have three buckets on each end and two back up lenses in the middle separated by a small section of sheet metal. The trick is going to be getting the trunk seal just right. I have it worked out though. I will have to figure a way to fill the space between the end of the tail extension and the lower half of the trunk lid face that is now cut from the trunk deck and will be welded in place as a frame for the buckets and trunk latch. About 3/16 on either end. Whatever I fill it with will end up under filler anyway. Might just slice each end and tease out a small bit of metal from each end to bridge the gaps. Flipped the trunk lid over and set it on the engine bay rails and then cut and pasted the trunk seal runner onto the lid just where the downturn starts. The seal lip from the rear bottom of the trunk will be cut out and pasted up higher to meet the lid as it closes. Once it's done the chrome trim that completes the tail light surround on the lip of the trunk should fall right into line with it closed. We shall see.
 
1) Sealed the "new" gas tank seal on the '66 Coronet - the new one leaked like mad!

2) Drove my lowered '68 D100 for the first time in three years today! Put 30 miles on it, after lubing the new front suspension bits. Changed spark plugs on the 318, washed the truck and put fresh fuel in it. Diggin' it!

3) Fixed two lights on the Imperial.

This looks familiar, did the same thing to my back window on thursday. Smaller holes, but holes none the less. I re sealed it for now and I'm going to order the parts this winter, to fix in the spring…
 
I pushed it 3 blocks in 90 degree heat when the fuel pump failed! At least I was that close to home and have a sympathetic neighbor who helped push!
 
Said goodbye to her as she was hauled of to the body shop :) Not sure about this guy though lmao looks a little suspicious. Hope he didn't just steal that rig right before it arrived lol
















 
Finished demolisihing the steps going into the new rec room and cleaned up the mess I made. Before the trip to Home depot, I strolled into my garage and sprayed a coat of phospheric acid on the freshly sanded interior roof. Wiped it around and will let it dry. Doing one panel/area at a time to get the whole thing prepped for the paint guru.
 
Went to the local US post office to see if my fuel sending-unit arrived from year-one yet, as UPS sent it to the WRONG post office! It wasn't there... been waiting for 2 months!!!:angry1:
 
Changed the oil-psi gauge in my runner, and detailed it for a show tomorrow.
 
Found a 73 Coronet at the bone yard and took (bought) the two lower front door hinges. Already put one on my car. Now, at least one, of my doors will stay open without having to use something to keep it that way. Other hinge will happen soon.
