But 'only' in moderation! It was very near the front of the shop and now it's at least 20+ feet closer to my work area after moving the freezer out of the way as it's about to be sold. Anyways, the BF is now much closer to where I am most of the day plus it's within sight when I'm running the milling machine and dats impotent!

To be impotent, you gotta dress impotent!

Shoulda left it where it was, 20ft would get rid of a couple calories when going for the next one!

On a side note, not to fudge up the thread, my 1st job was at a small machine shop many years ago. It was pretty routine for the owner to toss me a couple bucks to hop into the company truck and go get a case of beer at the beer depot near end of the day. Then we'd sit in the break room to consume that and on occasion it would be another trip to the depot. I was just 18 the same year my state lowered the drinking age to 18 from 21. No more teen bars. On holidays such as working until noon for the eve's, the beer ride was when the depot opened so we could have brews while we were operating machines. Cold bottle of PBR on the milling machine table and look over to a co-bud while his bottle was taking a ride back and forth on the auto-feed surface grinder. How times have changed! Our shop got inspected by OSHA once and tell ya we had a mass of possible violations...but go figure...guess what the shop was only cited for? No ground prong...on our beer fridge!

I worked for a contractor back in 78/9 who had a Coke machine filled with Miller (his brand) and for .50, at 4:25 you could put your coins in and begin the party. Did it most every day.

Got mine set at 5 cents and it has a bad habit of cutting into productive time...

1- so you don't drink much anymore, but still need a beer frige-

What the hell did you need before???

2- when did states lower the drinking age?

The year I turned 18, OH raised the drinking age to 19, and the next year to 21.
There was so much outrage that I was in a select group that got grandfathered in and could drink at 19 while those six months younger were screwed until they were 21.

Used to drink pretty hard but not so much anymore. When I was in the military putting down a 5th of Vodka and more was nothing. Kinda odd that there wasn't any alcohol in my life until the military and getting drunk for the first time was well after turning 20. Once out, there just wasn't any desire to party much but did every now and then but pretty much stopped when I got married the first time @ 28. It wasn't until getting married the 2nd time to the one that just exited my life is when I crawled into a bottle and that started happening about a year after tying that knot.

Yup, booze got in the way of productivity often but so did 'that' woman but right now I've got some things to do and don't feel like getting into bygone times and no, there won't be any beer/booze involved. Trying to keep that to a twice a week deal lol. Typing that sentence reminded me of the TV show That Girl....anyone ever watch it? Had a crush on ole Marlo for a good while lol

WI lowered the age in 1972 and raised it back to 21 in the mid-80's, used to be arguments that we could send guys to war at 18 but they couldn't drink. Ironically right around the time the age was lowered, the draft was abolished while I was sent my draft notice card a few months before.

Had one of those small under the counter boxes for years but got tired of running back and forth to the house whenever I BBQ'ed. Found a fairly new and clean refer at a garbage sale down the street and got it for 200 bucks several years ago and stocked it with everything needed for cookin and chillin. Half way lived in the shop especially when all the wemons were at each other's throats....if you know what I mean.

As a species we have been drinking alcohol since we figured out how to make it. Probably won't stop until we kill ourselves.
Mike
PS; Isn't that a cheerful thought!

Funny you mention this Mike - just this week I was talking to a nurse who works at a hospital and her stories of people with permanent liver damage and getting/needing transplants were chilling. One guy, only 28 years old, drank Jim Beam like water and got a transplant to save his ***. She mentioned a boatload of sick people of all ages from massive alcohol consumption.

One huge mistake that's made are the ones that start drinking at a very young age....like mid teens and it's worse you if start earlier than that. Your body is still developing all through your teens and alcohol interferes with the process. And when you throw drugs and smoking in on top of that, it only compounds the hit. All of that still wrecks a mature body over time but when you start the wrecking ball even before the 'temple' is completed......
