Naming the car.....Who has done this?

I've only had a few that "earned" names over the years. Usually not a good thing, that's probably why I've never named any of my Mopars....

'86 Thunderbird = "The Thunderturd"
White '88 Tempo = "The Tampon"
70-something Camaro = "The NOTrod"

we used to call the 75 Malibu "the guac" because it looked like a bowl of guacamole.
a 69 imperial was "the Imp". 70 Chrysler 300 was " the tiger shark " because it was primer gray streaked with black guide coat. then there was "witchcraft". my DD is simply called "******* thing". the 73 duster was " Lemonhead" because it's lemon twist. the 70 bee was just "the bee". there's others I can't remember. we had names for everything

my truck is 'Dak'

I had an old 76 Power Wagon named 'Buck'
from tying bucks to the front & hitting one while driving

my 23 T Altered was 'Wild Thang'
my 27 T Altered was 'Desperado' after my racing team name
naming racecars was the norm a few decades back

my car is 'The other B_I_T_C_H'
given to her by my now former GF Honey
because I spent time with here :poke:

it stuck

my 1st 68 Charger in 1974-75 was 'Alfred',
my 1st born so to speak
it's a family name or middle name, to give to a 1st born son,
I'd never use on a kid
I did have a dog, American Staff UKC reg. named 'Alfred Farton Urinal' thou

I had a 1987 Ford F-150 standard cab pickup truck for many years. I called it the gutless wonder because it was actually a reliable workhorse that I used for all kinds of stuff, but the V8 engine it had was the most anemic piece or garbage. Once, when towing a race car up a hill, I had to stop and put the truck in 4WD Low so I had enough torque to get up the hill!

I've got a kick out of reading the nicknames. We have a few that got nicknames. Our 65 dart when we first put it together was painted maroon primer along w unpainted parts and was sporting 13" inch snow tires with dog dish hubcaps and received the nickname "barf" Thankfully, the paint job was a large improvement w ralley wheels and the nickname is a memory. Just drug the car out and building a 383 for it. Another one that got a nickname was a 67 valiant 200 that we planned to make a race car...it was a beige/brown car that our old bachelor neighbor had and never drove over 25mph... we still call it the VOMET. our 76 Ford we drove to college and everyone called it green...you can guess what color it was. One fun story with green was coming back at night from the races our 69 charger in tow... Green ran on propane...I was with my Dad in a car 100 yard behind green.. all of a sudden their was a explosion with a concussion that we felt inside the car and if your familiar with the hood shape on a 76 Ford...flames shot out between the hood and fender on Green on both sides ...just like the nitrous guys...Lol. The coil went out..the truck loaded up with propane and then the coil gave it's one last spark.. their was a healthy dent in the hood and the propane mixer/air cleaner was laying on the fenderwell...swapped the coil off the charger for green...bungied the air cleaner back on and off we went. LOL

Some of mine wind up with names.
1) RITSE as one of my buddies calls it being an R/T S.E. I call her Amber for being red.
2) Ram-bunctious, my Dodge Ram
3) Shaker, due to the scoop.
4) Maximus Rapidus, My Road Runner.
5) Pickle, kids named the Yorker.
A couple of them don't have names yet.

Military people are always good for giving others, and things, nick names or acronyms. My 67 Coronet resto-mod is 'The Yankee Express'. Because Vermont.....+ a 440 magnum.

My 70 challenger RT - I call it "my 70 Challenger RT"
My 73 Cuda - I call it "my 73 Cuda"
My 01 Viper - I call it "my 01 Viper GTS ACR"
My 52 Dodge PU - I call it "my 52 B3B"
My 70 Roadrunner - I call it "my 70 Roadrunner"
My 68 Barracuda - I call it "my 68 Cuda"

I named it that because it is coming together with parts from several other cars...Oddly though, it will get the original 383 that it was built with.

I like the name F-Red because the car is Friggin RED. It would be pronounced FRed.
The Wife hates that name though.
I like Charlene , a variation of CHRISTINE but not evil or vindictive.
I'm still mulling it over though.

Never really named my cars...have called them several names however...
When I was a kid my grand dad had a 64 fury that we called the Red Rock.
My grand mother drove it one day and forgot to leave it in gear and set the parking brake, it rolled down the hill about 75' away and slammed into a post oak. Knocked a lot of the bark off of the tree and left only a small dent in the bumper...

We name pretty much everything....even some of the household plants.

My 84 W350 Cummins Crewcab is named Patches....pretty obvious why. ;)

My Factory Sno-Commander 85 Ramcharger is called Sno-Ball...

My 89 Case 1845C Skid steer is named...Alowishus Devadander Abercrombie...That's long for M.U.D.

My 68 Chrysler T/C wagon is called - The White Devil. Wife named it after she was driving it at night through a massive rain storm and she thought it was going to kill her. She won't drive it anymore.

Quads are named Reggie (blue) and Lucas (green)..

My daughter's 88 Aries K-car is named Rosie...after the paint colour, Rosewood metallic.
