What did you do to your Mopar today?

Took me about 8 hours of working mostly solo to get the engine back in the car, but it's there! It was quite a day, I wrote it up in my build thread:

but here's the result:

Lol. Ran to the Chinese food place and on the way home I ran out of gas today. Luckily I had a 2gallon reserve in the trunk. But after I got home I took the opportunity to drop the tank since i had less than 2 gallons in it. I discovered why It’s sucking up crap from the tank.
No filter sock on it anymore. Really don’t want to try to open this up. Tank really isn’t bad inside. Needs to be cleaned out and test the sending unit. Just afraid either can’t get it open or put back in.

I terrorize my neighborhood every weekend. ....but I need some longer drives....
I'm in Chino....maybe I'll catch up with you one of these times!

Jeff

I need to find some new ones. I've been looking at catching the 2 way out near Wrightwood at the northeast part of the San Gabriel wilderness area which will put me near Montrose / La Crescenta. I usually like to do those longer drives in the early morning (little if any traffic), and try to time it with sunrise at about the halfway mark.

Got the sending unit out. Needs a new float. Luckily my buddy just happened to keep the old sending unit from his charger, so I’ll run up to his place tomorrow evening and pick that up. I was also able to test my sending unit to make sure it was still working. One issue was the float, the other is getting it to ground through all the cruddy original fuel line. I’ll clean out the tank really well and put it back together for now.

Been meaning to put closer to proper date coded carbs on my Satelite. Why say closer because I don't know what date code carbs the car came with. They were stolen before I owned it so 'm guessing, Carter fuel pump was K5. Wanted K5 carbs but if any came up for sale on Ebay to much money or I didn't win bid. I have a 4139s l5 and a 4140s M5 , look for an 4140 L5 so they'd match.
Hate dealing with carbs and stuck parts, Everything coming until one needle seat wouldn't budge. Got it good and hot screw driver in slots nothing doing. Stopped there and thought well I have another 4139s with wrong date code so if the threads mess up on the stuck seat I have a backup. The other seat on that top came out hard, waiting for it to squeak as I removed it. Took an eazyout stuck it in needle seat heated an it came loose but it was tough for the size of it. No f up the good part.
That other 4139s some dumb *** epoxyed the gaskets and assembled the carb, WTF. Need to to soak it in actone and hope thing loosen up, thank god I don't need the carb and didn't pay a lot for it.

Worked on the passenger side door hinge yesterday finally. Just have to put it on now but man, this heat wave we're in is killing me. They say today is the last day for it though....

Yup, Houston can be brutal this time of year, don't know how ya'll can live there. When I was there I had mushrooms growing on my nuts during the summer it was so freakin hot and humid. Corn starch was my friend back then..
On the bright side it's only a couple of more weeks...maybe with global warming and all...:realcrazy:
