So a customer calls me on the phone....and asks me if I have a four speed transmission for sale....

I ask him what kind of car he needs it for.....he says "That don't matter..." OK....so do you need an 18 spline or 23 spline tranny...and is this for what kind of body style? He says he would take either one.... Then I ask if the trans he needs uses a slip style yoke or a ball & trunion style....then he hangs up.....

Why would it be so difficult to say EXACTLY what you're needing or looking for????

Oh man.....the list is long from 'customers' lol. Lastest one was for a UNIVERSAL radiator. Got plenty of hits on it asking if it would fit their (fill in the blank) lol. I had listed ALL of the dimensions and just told them to measure their opening and what sides the hoses fit on. The one you just listed is pretty strange though.....

Because 99% of the populous doesn't even know what they want! Just read the internet of all the stupid questions there are, like how do you remove a wingnut, REALLY?

Damn, i just sold one that was almost just like that.

I don't know Mopar and don't pretend to. It's a blessing to have people like those on this forum that combined, could build, find or make a mopar out of a piece of sheet metal. You were more than helpful and if my time would come, I hope you are the guy answering the phone!!

I had a "special" customer today.

1. She talked to out internet salesman and ordered 4 tires for her Mercedes. She set an appointment.
2. Her tires arrived and appointment confirmed.
3. She did not call or show up at her appointment time.
4. Internet salesman left her messages and she did not call back.
5. Two weeks pass and she calls me and gets angry because she had a blowout and
we don't have a road service to go out to change her tires. Screams at me and then hangs up the phone.
6. Another week passes and she calls this morning wanting her tires. Now I have no clue what tires were ordered for her because
all of her info and work order has been deleted.
7. She arrives at the shop and wants to argue over the price that she was quoted. I tell her to hang on and I will find it.
8. I go back through the call log and find the call. Listen to it and find the price that she got then is the same price that she got
today.
9. She settles down and agrees to have the tires installed.
10. She was just as nice and happy when she paid like nothing ever went wrong.

I had a customer today ask me if I could change her very nice 1967 Corvette from 4 speed to an automatic.
My response: I can, but it will be expensive, but the bigger question is why?
Her response: Dead silence...

#1 You had a call log and you were able to confirm the price. At least she had sense enough to not argue with the facts.
If you had not had that information she would probably still be arguing. Anyone that has not run a business that provides goods and services to the public hasn't learned how many people try to get over on businesses.
