Probably because it was a relatively stock platform that had attainable/simple add-ons that resulted in a 190 mph b-body.
And seemed to really demonstrate the open road prowess of these cars as well.
If the specs on this thing are available please post them.
If recollection serves me it was:
- 440 - maybe stock heads (ported), 509”(?) purple cam; think the bottom-end might of had aluminum rods and maybe external oiling, with big carb, on a single plane
- 4 speed, 2.76s, 8 3/4”
-stock disc brakes, stock suspension (added sway bars & bigger torsion bars)
-some significant but simple aero-tweaks
(The above is from memory of an article 25 years ago, so it maybe off a bit...)
Just found the video; had never seen it before. Quality is not great but it’s fun.
