Classic car prices dip?

Crying wolf is a bit too early yet...

one Auction is doing pretty well right now

I can't believe how much people are paying for the early Broncos!
That the one sold for $150K? With the motor it has and the wheelbase, hope the owner doesn’t get too cute with it. I’ll take the 3 muscle cars that sold (combined) for that price. Bronco plow we had back when reminded me of getting inside a steel drum.

I was watching Mecum last night and some cars that I thought would sell for more sold for reasonable prices, and others sold for ridiculous prices.
In other words, business as usual at the auctions!
I went there the other day to drool over the offerings.
As usual, overwhelming numbers of cars with everything from national show winning restorations to perfumed pigs that look nice in the glossy website pictures but make you roll your eyes when you see in person.
The crème de la crème are running today and tomorrow, watch selling prices for these two days to gage state of the market.

Gateway Broncos is not far from me, I see parts always thrown in a pile out back... not much left of the original bronco when they get done with them. New coyote, over drive trans, Chinese tub, doors, fenders and away you go. I’d rathe have it with a little 302 or six popper.. They get loose so fast!

What was with the Dodge Coronet factory hemi 4sp...for $55k? I'll never understand..

I'm not worried about it. I didn't buy my cars as an investment or to flip.
If the prices dip, might be able to get some parts cars for a good deal?
With inflation, the high cost of new cars, and the complexity and loss of privacy with new cars, the old classics might get more expensive.
The average new car now costs over $46,000. I think December it was around $48K, and then came down to $46,404 in January.
Looking at CarFax, if I had to replace my old 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 with one in the same condition it would cost me around $30,000 and I think I paid about $40,000 when I bough it new 17 years ago.

My experience through down economy times have been that people ask the moon for their junk. Seems like they want to retire from the one sale. Of course I’ve never been in the market for rare or high quality restored cars, just drivers and parts cars.

I am always thinking there will be a flood of cars on the market in 5-10 years, when the boomers really start to pass ( sorry older dudes:( ). You think there would be a ton hitting the market
