5.7 Hemi Swap Exhaust Recommendations

So, I'm finally getting my 69 RR Vert 5.7 Hemi Swap road worthy, but it currently has stock 5.7 exhaust manifolds to Magnaflows that are getting rusty. The swap was done in 2006 and things are starting to show age. It's not too loud, but it basically sounds like a much louder version of the 5.7 Challengers and Chargers.
After looking at the undersides of newer 5.7 cars, it looks like they have cats followed by mufflers and resonators.

Does anyone have any recommendation from their 5.7 swap setups? I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on using the some of the repro stock mufflers with stock hemi resonators.

TTI headers to an X pipe (you can get an entire exhaust from them for your RR) a good set of mufflers and your golden.

That is what I did. Sounds really good. Mine in all stainless with tips, 69 Conv also.

I know this is an old post, but what stock application exhaust manifolds fit a B-Body with the later 5.7's? Mine is from a '13 Durango.

None do really fit. The passenger side runs into the firewall. Break down and get headers, you’ll thank yourself.

I have a 5.7 in my 70 GTX. I talked to the lead engineer at TTI and he said he could NOT get a set of headers to work because the bends were too tight to get around the starter!. I went with the stock manifolds into this... 2 3/4 "pipes into Dynomax VT mufflers. I have since added cutouts as well. Sounds great and performs outstanding. I don't think the return on any HP would be worth the hassle.

Darius, are the manifolds you are running from the Hemi Jeep Commander? The outlets are a bit on the small side but they do seem to fit. I got a set of the SRT Jeep ones and they don't come close to fitting

Thanks for the reply, after I posted it I read your entire thread, but forgot to delete my question. I am working on a similar project to yours, on a tighter budget. Haven't got to the wiring harness, it is the elephant in the room though. Going with the TR6060 trans, hope that makes things a bit easier....

I'm using the ones from a Jeep Commander, found a new set on EBay cheap, they are available from the stealership also. Outlets are on the smallish side, but if you are not looking for a max output swap, they fit nice and tight and clear the starter and torsion bars.

Having not ever looked at a Cherokee set of manifolds, what is the big attraction to them? The manifolds from the stock 5.7 are so short I just don't see how one will gain enough performance by using headers. Maybe if you ported them and polished the interiors they would be a tiny bit better but unless you are bracket racing and are looking for 10ths why bother with the cost or hassle?
BTW, what is that dash out of??

The header issue is one that has been debated for a very long time. In general for normal street driving (read daily driver) manifolds will perform as well as headers, however if you are after all the HP your engine has to offer then headers are a better option due to the long primary tubes and collector design which in effect pulls the exhaust away from the engine through scavenging which creates a negative press at the exhaust port allowing the engine to breath easier thus freeing up some HP.

You are right, in 99.9% of the time, owners will not feel or notice a significant improvement due to the headers alone. This is why i am asking about which manifolds people are using because I am thinking I am going to use some on my 71 Charger.

What car is your engine out of? I am using a 2010 Challenger donor. The factory 5.7 manifolds would not work with the torsion bars, even with a frame notch like Darius did on his car. The log style manifolds I am using will clear the torsion bars and the passenger side starter, as well as the factory PS box.

If you are asking me, I am using the dash from a 2010 Challenger, along with the factory pedals, steering wheel, and booster assembly. I worked on the factory HVAC unit for way too long before canning the idea and going with a Vintage Air set up. I am also working on final fitment of the Challenger wiper assembly, need to get car wired for final adjustment on linkage.
