I'm in the process of pulling the 727 out of the GTX and have most everything ready to pull except the starter. Question is does the top starter bolt go into the tranny or into the 440 block? I have headers and I really don't want to pull the drivers side header unless I have to.

thanks

It being a stud on the top makes it alot easier to 'hang' a starter in place, to get it bolted up.
You can get 'em at most hardware stores.

Simply pull your starter (the hard way, since you'll have to have a hand on it all the time), and you'll be good to go.
When you bolt your 727 back up, get you a stud and nut for the top starter mount. Install it before you bolt up the starter.

Thanks guys, I have headers and I couldn't see what was up there! I was able to get it loose so I could pull the tranny. I do not look forward to the re-install!
