what exactly is "RARE".... ???

that oddball option that no one wanted back in the day so few people ordered it, then using that option to proudly identify their car 1 of X that had that crappy option.

:laughing7:

Great post, Bruz - and by the way, you are 1 of 10,224, but the only one with the 1-of-1 "Pitts-Bird" YELLOW bird logo option. :sunny:

My answer to those that ask why Mopar guys care about original engine option is that we CAN check to see what it came with.

On the other end of the spectrum, I was watching Mecum the other day, and the commentators went on and on about how there was no way to tell what engine a 1970 Chevelle/Malibu originally came with from the VIN.

I'd rather have an RM2xN 383 Roadrunner regardless of what engine was currently installed, than a malibu that might have been an SS 396 when built.

Not only is the word RARE over used in ad`s everywhere,Im tired of hearing about the REAL BARN FINDS!!! Please, there cant be as many barns out there as there are barn find cars.

How about "Billet"?????????????????? Billet this and billet that, Ummm, everything started out as a billet, dam marketing people. Doesn't make it any better than anything else
Oh, and "Made from Aircraft Aluminum" Really, says who. 6061 is considered "aircraft" aluminum, it's probably the most common aluminum around, probably have a couple hundred feet laying around the shop. I must be rich muwahahaha

Ive thought myself about this, there does seem to be an awful lot of barn find cars.. Its making me think and tell my wife each time i see a barn around here, im wondering what kind of Mopar is waiting in it lol..
There is a lot of barns around where i live, but rare anymore in reality is any car in them, lots! of dairy farms and this is Amish country... Might find a rare antique all black original buggy maybe.. :edgy:

new project....black Amish buggy with a big orange triangle reflector and a HEMI !

Anyone who writes "rare" in their add is a goober. We dont like hemi's because they're rare. We dont like a color because it's rare. RARE to me is irrelevent. I like what i like.

Another one is where it was sold. Because your high performance dodge was sold from the most well known dealer of high performance dodges does not make it anything more than what it is. Whats rare is a hemi dodge coming out of the dealer that got awards for moving more 4 door darts and monoco's than any other dealer.

Lmfao that's to funny top and yea a lot of barns but nothing in them he he

I know for sure that one car must be rare, Ford Limited, you can tell it by the name, I wonder what the limit was...?

this is rare

here's one: back in guessing, early 70's, a buddy of mine, dave, whose family was into old cars in a big way bought a 1920 something Moon car. a couple of us went with him to pick it up and it drove onto the trailer. he started looking into the history through a moon owner club, pre-google times, and got some history and knew it was rare. something like 75-100 still left. as this goes on he gets a call from a direct desendent of the original family that started the company. he was in michigan somewhere. they get yaking about moon's and his car and the guy asks if there is anything dave was looking for in parts. he replies not really at this point but he was needing a ceramic head light switch as his was half gone. here it is, the guy asks him if he is positive that it is ceramic and dave says yes and tells him about the family being into the old stuff, he knows its ceramic.
the guy went on and on about being positive it was a ceramic switch and tells dave it is the only one produced with that switch for whatever reason.

the ending is near, dave comes into a coffee shop we met at in the morning's with his chest stuck out like a banty rooster and tells us the story. about 2 weeks later the guy from michigan comes up to where we are, campbellford ont, think deliverence, and trys to buy the car for a lot of money at that time. dave says no. his logic was how do you price something when there is only one. i will have to look him up to see whatever happened to it.

ending: humor, when we went to pick it up with a couple of other guys, we stopped on the way home for lunch and got pretty pissed and had a mini party. could of crashed. then about a month or so later dave has it in the santa parade with us in it partying again. google, The Carlaw Legacy, as daves last name was carlaw. :headbang:

p.s.; i had forgot this story until i started reading this thread. thanks for the memory.

p.s.s.; his dad had restored cars for the likes of richard boone, t lady eaton, and numerous other high profile people. i remember that i had a 69-70 g.t.o. judge that i had dinged up pretty good, party again, and i sold it to his dad due to it being a judge.

I had a friend in high school we all thought had a rare car. It was a 1969 Road Runner. It was original. Never been painted. It was plum crazy (in violet I guess on a Plymouth). My understanding was those colors didn't come out until the 70 model year. I remember we checked the fender tag and build sheet and they had the correct corresponding paint codes. It was an original 383 4 speed car...still numbers matchin and all. I've never seen or heard of another one.....not that that means a thing. The car was somewhat known too. Terry's uncle actually bought the car new in Warner Robins, Georgia. Purple. Right off the lot. Had scrapbook pictures and all to back it up. I know Terry sold it, but I don't know what became of it. Was that one rare? Hell if I know.

i had a shin-dig at the house last year and had a couple friends and family over. i cooked a bunch of steaks and what-not, and i asked my buddy's uncle how he wanted his steak cooked. he says to me, "de-horn it, wipe it's *** and bring 'er out." LMFAO so i guess that's classified as rarer than rare.
