late model hemi into early b bodies

Same to you and your family Tin.

Great info in this thread! Thanks for taking the time to document this and put it up here. I’m just getting ready to start a 5.7 swap into my ’72 Fury and found a bunch of useful info here. You have a great car and have provided some great information.

Nope, just been looking around mostly.

What's the word on the injectors? any difference???

The smaller injectors are working great, the throttle response is alot better. I also changed out the o2 sensor and the idle came down so now I think it's going into closed loop, I'll check mpg in a few days to see if it's better than the dismal 13.5 I'm getting now.

Are you using a stock ECM or did you have Chris program it? You need to tell it to ignore the downstream O2 sensor.

Tin, with the factory 03' factory ecm alot of the programming that can be done with the 05' ecm can't be done. So I'm not sure what do....spend bookoo money on another harness and get an o5 computer, or spend a few bucks and get a/f ratio gauge with wideband o2 and see exactly whats going on.

The car runs like a striped ape, just the mpg suck mountain oysters. A few more phone call are in order to see if I can get this narrowed down, hell, it might just be that the 03's aren't that great at mpg and I'm beating myself in a futile attempt to getter mpg.

I would think you should get better than 13.5, I get 15-16 mpg with my 06 1500 4x4 w/mds, alittle less in the winter. my dad gets 19 mpg with his 05 4x4 1500 no mds though, he has the base wheels and tires, and I have the 20's. your car being lighter should be easier to get moving, you would think it would get better mpg. When the Hemi first came out two guys I worked with a the dealership I worked at had basicly the same trucks, same equip, just different colors, one got 12mpg the other got 17mpg, one drove pretty hard. That efi and a/c has to be nice, I want to do a wagon like that, something even the wife could get in and drive, no drama, reallly enjoyed your thread.

Thanks BigG. I reprogrammed the speedo just for shits and giggles so we'll see how it goes in the next few days. I really think it was off cause when I finished programming, the trip jumped from 23.8 to 52.8, wow!! So, I'm gonna go see a buddy next week and that should tell me if the odometer and trip was incorrect to start with.

That should help, have you road tripped it yet? Or are you just cruising around?

Just cruising with the occasional hammer drop, lol!!

Is there any way to get real time data logging on one of these systems? It could point out where the tune needs to be tweeked.

Not that I know of, but might be able to do it at a dealer, thats if they would even consider helping me.

Well my buddy came over to help rebuilf the sure grip (2nd time installing new clutches). All I can say is it went really smooth, and we finished in 2 hours. The clutches I had previuosly installed were put in somehow incorrectly (gotta be a guy thing, directions are just the manufactures opinion on how to assemble something), lol!! Anyway, it was done right this time and as soon as I backed out of the driveway, I noticed the tires didn't chirp and so I dropped the hammer.

Couldn't be more happy with how it turned out and my wife said it drove better....she must have been sneaking it out to know that, lol!

The gear pattern was good and we reset the backlash, and it's more of a pleasure to drive than before. Going around tight corners doesnt make the tires fight each other anymore and also it doesn'tdown shift to 1st anymore. Those clutches were definetly put in wrong. Now I gotta start looking for new rear tires as the ones on it now are about done....test and tune, test and tune. I think there's 700 miles on them, oh well, **** happens.

Looked at the rear tires and they didn't last very long. Looking for new ones, might stay with bfg's or look for something different but I dont like using 2 different brands front to rear. Anybody usr the bfg drag radials? If so, how do ya like them?

My new Flowmasters got here today, cant wait to hear what they sound like as my Dynomax's are just way to quiet.
