College Football Playoffs...

At least my sooners made it semi-respectable. Maybe they can grow a defense next year.....

Would have also liked to see ND and OK - not to be. It’s an often repeated scenario. Enough already. Tide vs Clemson again.

Actually from my perspective ND didn't need to be in it, but you can't deny 12-0 their opportunity. I think Georgia or Clemson are the only teams that could defeat Alabama.

If ND got in 12-0 How about USF they were national champs last year!!!!! We’ll see how they fair against LSU—Maybe they will repeat as “national chumps” I mean champs again this year!!!

you should of asked me
I'm 14-1 against the spread in my bowl games so far this year
and leave BeeKool alone!
Iowa State got the backdoor cover by a half point with under a min left in the game!
I'm getting tired of cashing winning tickets :D:fool:
Im not a State fan but did want to see them win. ISU had too many penalties and cost them the game.
My team plays New Years day. Hopefully they show up.
Hars for any team to put in a complete game when theyve been off since Thanksgiving

If UCF is able to defeat LSU I will agree that they are due an opportunity to play on a National Stage. It's just that they are actually in a different class or league. It's not that they aren't a good team. I'll ask one question and that's, how does anyone out there think they would fare against Clemson or Alabama?

An 8 team playoff bracket would answer these questions.

Here is a good one!!!

albeit;
I have to say;
Congrats to Bama & Clemson (yet again, yawn)

An 8 team playoff bracket would answer these questions.

yep many/most of the NCAA/College FBS fans
would prefer that scenario 8 team playoff 3 rounds too
more games & more ticket sales, more $$$ for the winning teams
& more so the schools

they take nearly a damn month (or more) off
between reg. season & playoffs

take the Champions from each of the Power 5 conferences
Pac-12, Big-12, Big-10, ACC, SEC
& 3 at large/most worthy FCS/FBS
(so then maybe teams like UCF would get in too)
It could shake stuff up,
at a min. more NCAA football in the holiday season :poke:

but;
the naysayers say it's too many games

but they let teams that don't even win
their own conference championship games
(in the past) or don't even play in a conference/championship
(currently/this year) in the playoffs

that **** needs to end

IMHFO you should need to play
a 13 game schedule min. to qualify,
(so called strength of schedules, who you actually played, that had an actual winning record)
or
9 inter-conference games min. mandatory requirement
& win your conference championship game
or you are not eligible, period, end of story...
way too many cream puffs
in the schedules of some of these teams too,
some/they barely play even 6 competitive teams/games

Budniks well said I totally agree Buttttt them ?uc?in Irish butter cups put asses in the seats,and the greedy p.ri!ks will not share revenue to a conference and that my friends is the $$$$$$$$$$ way it is.

I get the putting butts in seats too
it's about $$$/profits, viewership, ratings etc. etc. etc.

Yeah but;
IMO Notre Dame plays quality teams
(disclaimer; I'm not a big ND fan, nor an ACC Fan for that matter)
& ND usually, they do play a tough schedule,
they play good quality games/schools/teams,
most of which are all ranked or good at a min. & long time rivals
BUT;
NCAA should tell them "they need to join a conference",
it's not that tough, for them to comprehend,
do it or don't play in the playoffs
or
they don't have a chance for a National Championship

IIRC they were going to join either the
Big East or ACC at one time, can't remember when or where I saw that

I believe ND’s all other sports were forced to join a conference or not get any games. What conference do the hoop heads play in?

I'll ask one question and that's, how does anyone out there think they would fare against Clemson or Alabama?

They would get CRUSHED!!! No disrespect, but they don't play anybody. Their schedule is full of Division 2 schools and unranked teams. For anybody that thinks that Notre Dame doesn't deserve to be in a bowl, you obviously don't follow college football. They play all Division 1A schools, and usually play 4 or more top 20 schools every year. They played Michigan, Stanford, Virginia Tech and Syracuse this year. All were ranked in the top 20, 3 of them the top 10 when ND beat them. And every other year USC would have been ranked and they beat them in Southern Cal. They lost to a VERY good Clemson team that has been in the National title game 3 of the last 4 years.
Back to Central Florida, step up and play Miami, Florida and Florida State every year and see how they fare. I read a few weeks ago that Florida and Florida State don't want to regularly schedule UCF because the won't fill the seats. If you play with the Big Dogs, you have to be able to BEAT the Big Dogs. I just don't think that they are on that level yet.

Well two SEC teams lost yesterday.

Georgia and Miss St.

I thought Georgia would crush Texas, I was wrong.
I picked Iowa to beat Miss State but I may have been a bit biased on that one. :lol:

Would like to see Clemson beat Bama

Prepare yourself to hear the "well Georgia wasn't motivated since it wasn't the playoffs".........
Oklahoma got the same thing when they beat Alabama in the sugar bowl a few years back.

#8 UCF Knights (12-1) gave the #11 (SEC 10-3) LSU Tigers
a game 'after the 1st quarter', even lead at one time
LSU 40 - 32 UCF, pretty damn respectable showing

disclaimer;
I rarely ever watch or even seen UCF play

I think they could be an "at large" conference candidate
outside or the FBS power 5 conferences, SEC, ACC, Big-10, Big-12, Pac-12,
& if the FBS committee went to an 8 game playoff series, that is
& if they meet "all the criteria", I pointed out in my early post, to qualify,
they'd have to be represented in the committee 1st
a lot of big if's to happen 1st

IMO (like said above) they need to play/schedule,
more D1/FCS or FBS quality teams
to get the respect they will need

here's some food for thought;
Miami, Florida & Florida State may not want to play them
"for fear of getting beat by an alleged inferior conference
or so to speak lessor team" too...

that **** backfires sometimes
Remember Appalachian State (?IIRC) & Bama ?
That had to be embarrassing as hell for #1 Bama
or Boise State (albeit a great team) & Oregon quite a few years back
when Oregon (my Ducks) was/were dominant, always national contenders
were ranked top 10, to lose to a lesser/inferior conference
& "allegedly inferior team"

That's an AD's & Coaches nightmares,
especially early seasons losses like them...
No program likes that...
It screws your season & chances, let alone what bowl game &
loses Millions of dollars for the program...

Hence all the creampuffs (lessor teams & weaker conferences)
most all power 5 conferences schedule, early season,
for 'tune up games', that they can win or think they will win...

NCAA & the committee's are all a complex & fickled beast/s
