hahah 6am brainUnless you have Doc's time traveling DeLorean, I think your dates are off.
Dang man!! Glad you are still here after all that.Bought a 12x50 mobile home on 10 acres of land in the UP of MI.... $6500 and 24 years old.
Sold the mobile home two years later for $3k and used my equity in the land to build a new 2200 sq fr home on the property.
Almost forgot... we moved in to my sister in laws place while we waited for our semi factory built home to be finished.
She lived in a 100+ year old log cabin that was the familys original home on 300+ acres.
It was the spring of '75... got cold enough to need some heat from the old Jungers oil burner in the living room.
After I primed the stove with some methanol it failed to start. I poured more methanol from a quart container into the hot primer cup and it burst into flame. I jerked my hand back and poured all of that burning methanol all over myself.
Now on fire I ran outside to douse the flames with the outside water hose that was used to fill the horse troughs... earlier that day my SIL disconnected the water hose and put it in the barn!
So ripped off my burning clothes while my wife doused me with water from the kitchen faucet while my sister in law got the kids out of the now burning living room.
We managed to put the fire out by filling large vases with water... one whole wall was damaged by the flames.
Meanwhile my wife poured me into our '70 Duster and we headed for the ER 18 miles away. My right arm had third degree burns and I hung the arm out the window so the 30 something outside temps could cool the burns a bit.
I wound up burned on my right arm, my back, neck, chest and face. Took a few months for those burns to settle down... my right arm took about a year.
But I never missed work!
