How about it?
I know that Dennis H and Darius could do it. I've seen their cars and know their reliability. My 70 Charger probably could too. I'd just need to carry some gas jugs since there are surely some stretches of highway where gas stations are scarce.

If your car isn't ready today, what would it take?
I'm not talking about comfort stuff. Leaky window seals, torn up seats and an incomplete exhaust can still allow you to drive the car. Even oil and transmission leaks can be dealt with.
Can you drive it without overheating? Will the alternator keep up with the headlights, radio, electric fans or any other accessory?
Cross country could be from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, Connecticut to Oregon, Los Angeles to Ocean City MD....

Went 500 miles last weekend without any problems, except that I didn't want it to end. A cross country trip may be in my future.

I've taken my car on 4 road trips from Northern Ca to Los Angeles for the Spring Fling show, cruise, etc. The only trouble I had was that TWICE I broke the RH exhaust hanger.

I'd say yes, mine could.

I did 3 legs of last year's Hot Rod Power Tour. It took nearly 2 hours waiting in a line of overheated cars to get into the St. Louis venue. I will say that my car did well and only got up to 195. Others were not so fortunate.
This was my first real road trip in the old Superbee. I put 800 miles on my car over a 4 day period. I was so proud of myself and my car.
But, now that I have scratched that off the bucket list, I doubt I will ever do it again. My car and my left foot (4 spd car) will not be signing up for that again. I respect the people and machines that can do this sort of thing with these old cars.
So my answer is "NO" , I do not think me and the Superbee could do a cross country trek.

I will probably put 500 or so miles on mine in Reno this week. Can't wait.
Me too. Probably about 700 miles. Comfy as a Cadillac. Cool with the ac. I simply don't have the time off for the power tour. If it is ever west of the Mississippi, then maybe. These cars were meant t be driven and enjoyed. I plan to wear it put before the "kids" get it. It will quickly be sold. I am looking forward to waving to the Tribal Police in Nevada in the middle of nowhere with open-range where he sits with his radar gun. I have Valentine 1. When th blip drops, I will get back up to speed.

Are you kidding - cross country. I haven't been able to get mine down to the dmv for an inspection without having problems. It's got some kinks to work out after the restoration - not to mention the gas alone would put me in the poor house. I think I over did it with the stroker.... She's sweet though..

I took mine on a 400 mile trip a couple months ago. It was fun with no issues. I would take it farther. Some year I would like to drive to the Nats. It's a 12+ hour drive from home. I would split the trip into a 2 day trip both ways. I have just 35,000 miles on mine. Not to many things worn out on the car but most everything is 46 years old. lol

My Charger would make it, but my back would not allow me to.
Agree with you there! Back when I was 18 those seats were more comfortable. Now not so much. I need a new cover on my front seat and I will talk to a custom upholstery shop in my area. He scratch builds seats and does some cool things with closed cell foam. There are manual pump-up lumbar supports available too. I would like to try one. Tmm

I'd say yes with my GTX....except the first 6,500 miles might be a bit wet.

I need adjust camber and rotate tires, but I think so.
Drove it Chicago to Montreal and back once. It likes 2 lane highways.

Easily, I have no doubt I could drive across the country and back without popping the hood and get 20 mpg doing it. I didn't build mine to look at or to worry about it, everything was done with reliability as a must and the addition of the 6 speed put it over the top making long cruises a breeze. I've already had it on 2 trips that exceeded 15 hrs worth of driving with no issues, 180 degrees all day long.

The 67 Coronet is almost there. With new front brake hoses and U-joints I would be confident. But it has been to Atlanta and back several times already, a 100 mile round trip.
A few of my past adventures - 68 Coronet 400/auto MN to GA 1300 miles (lost power steering just outside of Nashville, was able to patch the low pressure hose and keep running), 69 Roadrunner 383/4 spd NJ to GA (broke down in SC, leaving parts of the bellhousing on Hwy 95), same car Atlanta to Daytona Beach after the transmission rebuild. That was a 1000+ mile round trip. AAA and a credit card is all you need. Oh, and a driving companion is nice too.

I've driven my Super Bee to my parents' house, 450 miles each way, a couple of times. Car did fine but I was worn out from the trip. It was summer and my car didn't come off the line with AC and these old cars don't drive as effortlessly or comfortably as modern ones.

Not sure I agree, we have a 2014 Town and Country and a 2012 Cruze and my Charger is far more comfortable and effortless to drive..... other than rowing threw the gears:thumbsup:.

Now I will admit I've never driven a stock Mopar with the factory size wheels, rubber bushings, mooshy suspension and springy seats so that might be a factor???
