Tremec 5 speed conversion in a 1970 Charger

With the automatic, I've shifted as high as 6200 but try to keep it under 6000. With this Tremec, I've yet to rap it to 6000 yet. I've had it 5500 or so but that was 2nd to 3rd. I've been easy on it out of the hole in 1st.

Sounds like your motor likes the same RPM's as mine. I originally had a 6,000 limit on mine but it pulled hard just beyond 6,000 so it's now set at 6,200 rpm.

I'm getting better at rev-matching when down-shifting and didn't bump reverse at all today when downshifting from 5th to 4th!
There is a show in May about 80 miles North of here. That alone is worth 160 miles.
Still loving this whole thing!

6th to 3rd downshifts matted on the freeway are awesome once you find what speed you can do it at, for me it's 70 mph.. feels like your hitting a nitrous button lol. Been a few fart pipe imports that taunted me and got humiliated in the process.

The past few years they've been mailing me their flyer and registration form. I've never gone but my curiosity has gotten the better of me and this year I'm going too. Haven't decided which car to take yet.

I passed the 500 mile break in when I exited the freeway on the way to the Maxwell show.
Today I was out messing around and either I need more practice or this transmission does NOT like high rpm upshifts. The new TKX that is being heavily promoted is supposed to have 6500 rpm shift capability. I tried shifting at 6200 and the 2nd gear gate felt stiff, like it didn't want to engage. I can't imagine I'd need to "double clutch" it or at least I don't think that it should require that.
I love the feel of the car with the manual transmission. I might need some more seat time and practice.
Oh no ! What a chore!

You sure you're getting full clutch disengagement between gears?

The pedal disengages the clutch about half way to the floor, or at least it feels like it. It does not grind going into gear. It could be that I get so amped up when driving hard and fast, I am not doing it right.

yep...it gets smoother with more driving

6200...ive yet to need to do that as my rear gear is a 2.9something...maybe i’ll never get there with my gearing

As I recall you lowered the pedal to match the brake pedal. Its possible that you are not getting enough disengagement at higher rpms. There could be a lot of rotational turbulence between the pressure plate and flywheel that is causing the disc to drag to much.

Chomping on a cigar.... LOL... I was stationed aboard the USS Richland AFDM-8 & the 1st Class P/O in charge of my dept was Bobby Greene..... Bobby Greene was a cigar chewing fool, he'd have half the damn cigar in his teeth.... When he got angry he'd pull it out & start slinging it around.... Nasty brown saliva would be flying off of it.. LOL... Then he'd throw it on the deck & stomp on it.... Once he got the anger out of his system he'd pick up his cigar, brush it off some & put it back in his mouth.... Couple guys use to pull his chain just for the show...

Dipping is so vile. I once worked with a guy on an oil rig from Mississippi. We worked 28 days on and 28 days off. He would go through 60 cans of dip a trip. He was always spitting into a soft drink bottle and leaving it in the meeting room. Now that's what I call an addiction. He chewed so much, he wore a crater into his lower gum. True story.

In construction, I've worked with dudes that just spit wherever.
That sucks because lumber is everywhere too. Drag a power cord or a hose through someone's spit and tell me you're okay with it.
