Some changes for LemonWedge

Yes if you move one thing 10 others are effected by the change. Domino effect is what I call it. Glad you got it going your way. Hope you enjoy the finished product.

I FOUND out what made the "noise" on my 66 Coronet exhaust system...I used 3" diameter tubing for header reducer, header pipe, pipe to the Flowmaster Mufflers (3" in and 3" out) and then 3" pipes coming out of the mufflers all the way back...
I was told later by a exhaust guy that if I wanted a quiet street system I should have used 2.25" pipe, all the way or maybe even 2". Loses power but much quieter.....

I watched a engine masters where they ran a 2.5, then changed to 3 and it was quite a bit louder. Makes sense, the less restriction the less baffling going on.

Clay bar will take the overspray off with some rubbing. Doug

Here’s the exhaust “system”.

Where's the sound clip lol .... You do some awesome work congratulations can't wait to see the results from all the hard work

End result came out great. Good job. My exhaust didn't quiet it down much either. My neighbors say they can hear me coming down the street from 5 blocks away. Which about a half mile. Lol.

I have Flowmaster 40 series and 3" exhaust, but I like it loud, and I open my Doug's electronic cutouts whenever I'm around anyone at Cruisin the Coast I leave them open. My full exhaust system exits out the back past the bumper.
As far as "loud" on your car goes, 3" pipe, not much muffler, but having the pipes open under your car is a HUGE sound amplifier. If the pipes went out the back or to a lesser degree the sides, you would notice a significant reduction in "loudness".

Saturday will be the day.... Test n Tune at Pacific Raceway and the weather reports look promising. I still haven’t stood into it, but based on the few quick blips I’ve given it so far it seems like I can feel the gearing change (in a good way). Car is down a good 100 lbs compared to before this project too. Air should be good Sat.; we’ll see how it goes. To be honest, if the rear end stays under the car, I’ll be happy.

oh, and I took rubbing compound to the exterior of the car last weekend. Then re-waxed it with a carnuba paste wax. Looks as good as ever. Going to have to use dye on the interior though. Man am I ever jonesing for some racing!

So what was your personal best to date?

So what was your personal best to date?

what’s in my sig is accurate. Best is 11.18 @ 118. The car has gone 119mph a number of times, but the lone 11.18 run was at 118.9 (IIRC). Typically through the summer last year it would be in anywhere between 11.23 & 11.28 depending on weather.

as crazy as it sounds, this project was really done more for aesthetics than anything. The car hooked just fine on the previous 28x9’s. I wanted a stouter look. I’m yet to make the intake manifold change (RPM to M1), so the only changes performance wise should be the weight and slightly deeper gearing.

That'll be good to document before the next change.

Do you think it got heavier, or lighter? How much?

We shaved about 100 lbs off of the big sled. Exhaust system, front wheel / tire package, narrowed rear & fuel cell add up to about 120 lbs. New spring buckets & bigger rear tires add back about 20 lbs. I still have future plans to lose the power steering (30 lbs) and shave some weight at the front bumper brackets. It’d be cool to be under 3700 in the beams with an all steel and real glass B-Body. Maybe someday a fiberglass hood???

My car is all steel and 3,700 lbs. Something about an all steel car at full weight going fast that impresses me more than one with fiberglass panels. Especially one as clean as yours.

That sounds awesome it's giving me motivation to finish my motor. Great job on the work you have accomplished enjoy and be safe this weekend
