Cyclists

they should be licenced and registered just like car drivers
nod-yes-smiley-emoticon.gif

and we just won't talk about jumping the gutter crossing in the pedestrian crossing, jumping back on the road and holding everybody that just spent 10 minites try to get past the lane hogging pricks . or not stopping at stop signs , or the gaggle of multi coloured lycra wearing galah's holding everybody up ,know they are doing it and laughing about it :mad:. yeah my pet peeve there should be an "open day " on them:elmer:

Don't hold back buddy....let it all out. :lol: BTW, I agree wholeheartedly with you. Lycra wearing homo's should be off the road, especially when they claim to be legally there, but run red lights, ride on the footpaths and ride 4 abreast on two lane roads. The worst offenders are at tee intersections, where they don't even stop at red lights - bugger the cars coming into their lane. :mad:

Need more of this;

:thumbsup: love the way so many of them when they realise "oh no I f*cked up " try to stop with their feet ala Fred Flintstone or is that they simply are riding death traps with no breaks

ENJOY

I didn`t read all these posts, but thot I`d share this: back when there was a gas crunch, about 1974, we had a guy that thot he`d help the situation and ride a bike to work. I was in a line of traffic bumper to bumper for over a mile, barely moving just because people couldn`t get around the dumbass. if they can`t do the speed limit, they shouldn`t have any right to be on the road !

I've been a cyclist for 20 years and I have to agree - while driving a car, NOTHING pisses me off more than a pair of douche bags riding 2 abreast. Most cyclists around here are arrogant asses that will hog the road just because they can. Me, I stay as close to the edge as i can manage and wave to people who go out of their way to not kill me.

It's the pedestrians that piss me off, just strolling along on the sidewalks minding their own business. Who do they think they are?

He even told me they belong on highways with speed limits 70+ too. The blatant lack of common sense just infuriates me.

I get that it's legal, but it's definitely not smart in many instances. Thoughts?

I get it. First, yeah it's their right so yeah please slow down around those bends and give them some room.

However, that said, there are plenty of roads that I just don't ride because even though I have a right to be there, the sight lines are crap, shoulders non-existant and I'm bound to get killed by someone playing Pokemon Go. And as a father of 3, at some point I have to be just a little smarter than that.

In today's age of cellphone driving, when I hear a guy getting killed / maimed while riding a road like that, I honestly don't feel all at at bad. And again, Ive been a cyclist for 20 years (heck, 24 years!!) and just a knock around bike rider for 15 years before that. It's just like someone getting lured into a basement and killed because of a Craigslist add for a good deal on some nicknack. Sure, killing is illegal, but damn ya just gotta be a little smarter than to put yourself in that position.

I used to ride semi-pro BMX all through the 80's.

I'd ride from one city to another in search of trails or just to ride.

In OH, at least back then most bicyclists used the sidewalk, and only the street if they had to, or it was much more convenient or safer, such as a low traffic residential area.

In FL, there is a "how dare you even suggest bicycles should be on the sidewalk" mentality.

I just don't get that.

What I can say is that it's simple physics that dictates a collision between a pedestrian and a 12 or even full speed 20-ish or more MPH bicycle is MUCH less of a potential for injury than a collision between a 15-ish MPH bike and a 45-60 MPH car.

...and then there's the 49cc moped/scooter.

If you're on one of those, going 30 on a 60 MPH road, GTF over every few miles and let the string of cars pass!!

It's so frustrating when you're stuck behind a slow cyclist. All you can do is slowly follow them until you can pass. One day it happened to me I ended up going an extra 30 miles out of my way.

I've been a semi-competitive runner for a very long time and have spent plenty of half marathons camped behind some nice scenery. I'm just fast enough where all the fatties are way behind me, and the only girls ahead of me have killer bodies (aside from the anorexic ones).

We all need our motivation.

Heard some comic say "I'd like to ride a bicycle, but I can't bring myself to wear the funny looking clothes."

Yeah, agreed....what's that all about? :lol:

Seemingly I usually get the fatty in skin tight spandex unfortunately,
that has no business wearing it...

:thumbsup: yeah why make size 16 tights :eek: like their going jogging / riding a bike. unless someone just stole their maca's take away :lol:

I'm good with this;

The video for the song was infamous for featuring 65 naked women, all professional models, racing at Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium. It was filmed by Denis de Vallance. The group rented the stadium and several dozen bikes for one day for filming the scene; however, when the renting company became aware of the way their bikes were used, they requested that the group purchase all the bicycle seats. The original video uses special effects to hide the nudity

BTW - @polywideblock - I've been there as well, for my flatmate's Stag party - got him horribly drunk, nearly puked in the taxi, and no bicycle seats were harmed that evening. :D

I ride just enough that i have learnt to share the road. But if you want to bitch about slow moving vehicles how about farm tractors the big masty ones that weight 10 tons or more and travel 15 to 20 miles per hour the big beast that are taking up 2 lanes just to get down the road. Yea take your dam car and run over that and see where it gets you.
I get more bent out of shape driving behind those that can drive the max speed limit and refuse to than I do those who can not and do thier best.

That's why I never drive scenic Route 66 in Oklahoma. There's always a farmer driving 10 MPH and the road is so narrow you cannot pass.

They should have to pass a riding test and be licenced, they need to have their bike pass state inspection, they need to purchase insurance. They should not be allowed on roads with the speed limit over 25. the police should do traffic stops and check their credentials. the fines should be as high as a auto violation. And they should have to keep at least 500 feet between riders in single file.
