My son tells me it's not about the Japanese tuners anymore.

All the guys my age they like the older stuff but don't know a ton about them they all refer to engines in liters like 5.0, 4.6 Replace the decimal with a 2 then we are talking my language.

lol a European car imo is by far a much better quality car than the same era of American cars if we are talking 80's-90's-2000's
I would much prefer a beamer over a caprice haha

I had a used 2004 BMW 740i back in the day. it was in great shape, UNTIL the trans went...they are sealed units and can't be rebuilt easily. I paid $6000, yup $6000 for a used transmission (the car cost me $10,000). Never again will I buy a german car w/out a warranty...and it will be sold before the warranty expires.
I work in a High School in NJ that is upper middle class. These kids are driving their parents "hand me downs" bmw 7's, audi A8's, Suburbans, etc. There's a few middle income kids here that are driving Bronco II's, blazers, AND only 1 kid in this school is driving a yellow 78 Firebird Formula.
Needless to say, when I used to drive my 71 RR Clone w/ exhaust cutouts, and my now 73 'Cuda...all the kids ask about it-so hopefully I'm infusing some nostalgia here!

That does seem to be a prime determiner of Old School and New School. If they use CID they are old school. If they use liters they are new. :)

When mom brought home her 1973 Grand Am is had a plate that said 7.4L. I didn't think that was very impressive since no one had ever seen a liters badge. I found some decals and put the 455 like it should have had.

About the German cars. Kids are going to drive whatever is handed down to them, therefore they get a taste for upscale German stuff. I had my *** handed to me from a BMW with four kids in the car. Don't make the mistake into thinking they aren't fast.

youngsters ,majority, don't want old iron. They want "their" type of bling..face it men....our sport is dying a day at a time.
What exactly is your "sport"? Cars?, or just Mopars?

Our sport is not dying. It is changing though. My sons like cool cars, they are not hung up on brands.

Audi's rock! I own 2 of them..And parts are cheap..over here. ;) LOL

Audi's suck. They're ugly overpriced VW's. But, thats just my opinion. But then, other than the BMW 3.0, and the 6 series, and the M1, BMW's suck too. I like Benz's, but all the new ones suck as well.

LOL Hilarious!

Here's another one of our Audi's!..Pretty sucky..

OK, I'll admit, I like the Audi S5 coupe. I did like the old rally Quattro's. And Michelle Mouton was hot!!!

Young car guys around here go for Diesel trucks as their hot rod of choice, followed by Mustang/Camaro then trickling down to the pacific rim cars. I'm sure most of them would trade straight up for 60-70's muscle in a flash, but it takes deep pockets to swim in the deep end of this hobby. I give those kids credit for at least keeping the flame alive even if it isn't what we recognize.

Our 'sport' isn't dying.....it's just getting more expensive. I see a lot of young people in the newer Mustangs and a few with decent jobs even have Challenger and Camaros. So....so what. Why are people bitchin about the posers?? There have always been posers and we had them in the 60's too! Hell, I was one when I first started driving a 4 door 66 Belvedere but I at least learned quick lol

What I have to "lol" about, is comparing Euro cars to American cars that cost HALF as much. And back in the day, the Caprice was a great car for the money. More than I can say about the comparable dollar Euro-trash. I know. I worked on these cars.

Yes sir,
My Brother loved Mercedes, but bitched that is was a $1,000 every time he went to the Dealer, just for service!
His work vehicle was an 07' Ram 3500 Cummins, so he knew where his bread was buttered.

We have one of Michelle's cars! It is being restored now..She won a championship with it!

I have just as many kids as I do geezers complimenting on my cars. Most of the kids say that they wish that they could afford one.

Thanks from a geezer....well, I think I am at sicky fore.....:D

In 2003 I was 14 and raised $1400 for my first car and dad matched it. We went to pick up the $2800 beauty and it barely ran long enough to get itself on the flatbed where it backfired and lit the air cleaner on fire. He told me if I wanted a cool car to cruise when I turned 16 I was going to have to work for it. I'll probably do the same for my sons.
