I was driving our little 1981 Dodge 50 remembering when mini-trucking was a trend. We all grew up with the custom van trend. There was a Japanese import trend. What trend are we in now?

Hmmm...Good question.
I never followed "trends", at least I never jumped into something because other people thought it was cool. I did my own thing and if others liked it, that was a nice thing. When Mini trucks were still popular in the 80s, I had a 76 Camaro that I had installed bigger springs and sway bars, low profile tires and KYB shocks. It handled great and I loved the feel of going around corners. I still like that feeling.
This may be the "sunset" age of gas engine vehicles, the last blast before electric cars start dominating but I hope not.

No trending for me. If the Marketing targets relied on me, they’d starve.
V8, RWD, git up and go. To the end.

Depends where you are.
Around here the trend is diesel trucks. How much "coal can you roll!".
Build the tranny chip the truck and turn the boost way way up. Pointless considering none of the trucks will ever pull so much as a lawnmower.

But hey, it keeps them from further driving up the price on the 65-70 B-Bods that I so cherish. Lol

E-cars. Whether you like it, or not.

My thought on this question is Modern Muscle. All manufactures have them.Just go to the dealer and sign your life away.9 seconds in the quarter mile is just a signature away...And you don't have to know Nuttin' about cars. Hell for a 100 grand you can buy a Jeep that will damn near run 10 seconds.

Guy’s come on! We are truly in a second generation muscle car era right now!!!! Think about it. Ford Chevy Mopar are all selling their sports cars with well over 500 hp at the rear wheel!!! If that’s not a musclecar era I don’t know what is!!! Super chargers with duel screws size of the tires are huge aggressive styling these are fantastic days for new cars. I just wish I could afford one of them LOL

This time is limited however because of electric cars coming and fuel prices will go up so this muscle car or that we are in now will not be long lived and we will all look back at these cars going man those are great cars because the ultimate will be cars with a little electric motors

'60's & '70's muscle car waning trend unfortunately. I know we all still love them, but I think they are becoming the new Model "A"s sometimes, with only the most rare increasing highly in value..... my 2 cents. Modern muscle is rising certainly better than it has in a long time tho.

Dam I miss my D50. My first rig was a 1981 2wd D50, then I bought an 80 D50 4WD. I would love to find another!

I do love small trucks.
I have 3 Daily Driver Dakotas with V-8s. All very fun to mess around in. And several parts trucks.

I want to take one of the 2WD parts trucks and put a Dana/TF w a stroked small block.

We’re so far from this being the norm it’s mind numbing. Battery technology still isn’t there to make the economics work. The government is doing everything they can to prop Tesla up to keep the agenda alive. It’ll never happen in my lifetime anyway...

OK, I bought a brand new '75 Chevy LUV. I had fun with it. Have always liked Dakotas but somehow never had one.

I think that we are still in the SUV trend and at the beggining of the older muscle car trend because manf are trying to get new modern muscle out, but still too expensive for the everyday person.

The technology is here and now. They are driving now in my town every day every where all the time. I agree battery technology needs a jump forward for everything electronic but its not stopping the ecars. I see a time soon that many people won’t own a car and just use autonomous ride share apps. Just us car guys will be buying cars and driving them. I really feel it’s going to happen very soon. Most young people hate cars and hate putting money into them.

It might invade the large metropolitan areas early on, but even here in central IL, it’s 50 miles to anywhere once you leave town. I covered 10 locations for work with the farthest being a 4 hour drive. No way I’m gonna try that in an electric car. It’ll be along time before the infrastructure can be put in place to support that. There’s also a huge car culture in this country and electrics really don’t play well in that arena..

Plus "Big Oil" won't be backing down too soon.
